The non-triviality of this task is rooted in the heterogeneous software (web-browsers and computers under different operating systems) and language (JAVA, C++ and FORTRAN) environments that have to communicate with each other. The system, however, is modularised in order to shield the user from this complexity and to provide ease of further development. This is accomplished with a set of portable, public domain resources.
