Modeling the human expertise, the system must be able to choose automatically the most adequate numerical methods or to combine numerical methods for solving a non-linear equations system. Our study refers to: the acquisition and formalization of human expert knowledge; the task-oriented formalization of reasoning; the design of the numerical routines library and of the methods base. For this purpose we are using a knowledge based system (rules and objects based) with the possibility to combine symbolic and numerical computing. We are using classical numerical methods (Newton, Secant etc.), and also recent methods (conjugated gradient, Broyden etc.). A prototype was implemented using the expert system shell Clips. =keywords= expert systems, task-oriented model, coupling symbolic and numerical computing, numerical analysis, non-linear equation systems.
