But until now there has been no single algorithm available for dealing with these types of curves in \verb"CASA", a computer algebra system, developed by the research group of Franz Winkler at RISC. Since also \verb"Maple", on which \verb"CASA" is based, offers hardly any functionality, when it comes to elliptic curves, the necessity arose, to enrich the functionality of \verb"CASA" at a first stage in terms of elliptic curves. With this implementation a solid basis should be built, which should carry the advantage of the flexibility of both systems over to the topic of elliptic curves. Furthermore an approach was made to illustrate the group law on elliptic curves in the most general way. This helps in facilitating demonstrations when it comes to elliptic curves and also conveying the idea of how the group law really works on elliptic curves. =sponsor= . =postscript= /home/caistlei/ellcurve-report/risc-report.ps
